Fresno-area prep softball: Which teams moved around in the latest Bee Top 25 rankings?

Clovis North handled the Clovis Easter Classic and remains The Bee’s top-ranked high school softball team.

The Broncos’ run to the title included a 7-0 victory over No. 2 Clovis.

There are changes in the Central Section Top 25 rankings, though: Monache, Fowler, Redwood and Clovis West each moved up one spot.

Teams return to league action this week.

Around the horn

Karsyn Bauer pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts in Liberty-Madera Ranchos’ 12-2 win over Tulare Union.

Redwood’s Morgan Bradford had a home run and four RBI in the Rangers’ 12-0 victory over Clovis East.

Kameryn Cordova was impressive in Fowler’s two victories last week when she struck out 10 and pitched a five-hitter in the Redcats’ 4-1 victory over Mt. Whitney. She had four strikeouts in a 3-2 victory over Orange Cove.

Ryan Maddox pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead Clovis North to a 7-0 victory over Clovis in the championship game of the Clovis Easter Classic. She also hit a home run and had two RBI.

Athlete of the Week winner

Gaby Zapata of Selma softball picked up 4,344 votes (75%) to be named The Bee’s high school Girls Athlete of the Week for April 4-9.

She won the poll over Vanezza Martinez of Sunnyside softball. Martinez had 1,254 votes (22%).
