Fresno-area prep softball: Top 25 shakeup; who hit three homers in one game?
The Bee’s top-ranked Clovis North High softball team picked up three wins at the Central Showdown last week all on shutouts by Ryan Maddox.
Clovis North defeated Kingsburg 12-0, Madera 10-0 and Arroyo Grande 6-0.
Maddox, The Bee’s Player of the Year in 2021, struck out 37 batters in the three games, including 16 against Arroyo Grande.
Clovis North will play in the Madera tournament this weekend.

▪ Also at the Central Showdown, Kourtney Coli totaled seven RBI to lead Clovis East to a 3-0 record there.
▪ In its own tournament, Central also went 3-0. The Grizzlies defeated St. Joseph 18-3, Mission Prep 9-1 and Hanford 7-0. Mia Traylor drove in five runs against St. Joseph and Mia Nishikawa had 11 strikeouts. In the second game. Traylor added two RBI. Jayden Ramos had nine strikeouts. In the final game, Ramos had three RBI. Traylor had seven strikeouts.
▪ Shelby Somavia of Redwood drove in five runs to give the Rangers a 7-6 victory over San Joaquin Memorial. She had three home runs, setting a school record, section historian Bob Barnett said.
▪ Golden West pitcher Camrielle Ortiz pitched a perfect game. She went five innings and struck out seven in a 13-0 victory over Hoover. She also drove in five runs.
