Leah Estrada of Sanger softball wins The Bee’s high school Girls Athlete of the Week poll for March 14-19.

Fans voted in favor of Estrada with 72,334 votes (54%) after her solo home run lifted the Apaches to a 1-0 victory over Merced.

Coming in second was Alexis Verduzco of Edison who totaled 52,311 votes (39%). Kourtney Coli of Clovis East softball came in third with 4,692 votes (4%).

Nineteen prep athletes were nominated.

The nominees were from basketball, lacrosse, softball and track.

The poll closed at midnight Sunday.

Recent winners include: Athena Tomlinson of Clovis West basketball, Melayna Vasquez of Fowler soccer, Darleth Felix of Tulare Union basketball, Morgan Triguiero of Caruthers basketball, Anna Marshall of Caruthers basketball, Anisa Torres of Caruthers basketball, Krissy Turman of Caruthers basketball and Aubryelle Aguilar of Clovis East softball.
