Bee’s Best: Jackson Young wins The Fresno Bee’s Boys Athlete of the Week poll for Feb. 21-26
The winner of The Fresno Bee’s Athlete of the Week in high school boys sports for Feb. 21-26 goes to Jackson Young of Clovis West basketball.
He finished with 21,747 votes (45%) after Young scored 23 points, helping the Golden Eagles to a furious comeback win over St. Joseph in the Central Section Open Division championship.
Silvestre Quintero of Fowler soccer was second with 16,666 votes (35%). Third was Trey Morris of Washington Union baseball who received 4,384 votes (9%).
Eighteen prep athletes were nominated.
The poll closed at noon Saturday.
The nominees were from baseball, basketball, soccer and wrestling.
Recent winners include: Orion Tomlinson of Fresno Christian basketball, Camden Thompson of Clovis East basketball, Landon Almeida of Caruthers basketball, Ismael Gonzalez of Riverdale soccer, Beunju Moon of Lemoore basketball and Luke Karle of Sanger basketball.
