How the TRAC boys soccer title was decided and a possible No. 1 seed in the playoffs

Jesus Rodriguez scored in the 65th minute when he took a cross from Marcus Flores that secured Central’s 2-1 victory over Clovis East in a big Tri-River Athletic Conference soccer match.

The win by the Grizzlies meant both teams finished as co-TRAC champions. The Grizzlies could be the No. 1 seed in the Central Section Division I playoffs when pairings are announced Saturday morning.

“This time rises to the occasion and likes to be challenged,” Central coach Eli Gallegos said. “We’re excited that we have a good mixture of good balance that has experience and know what we want them to do.”

The Grizzlies trailed 1-0 in the first half before Jesus Meza scored before halftime.

On Tuesday, Clovis East secured a share of the TRAC title for the first time since 2002 and just the second time in school history.
