Bee’s Best: Ismael Gonzalez is the Boys Athlete of the Week winner for Jan. 31-Feb. 5

Ismael Gonzalez of Riverdale soccer wins The Bee’s Boys Athlete of the Week for Jan. 31-Feb. 5 after getting 34,408 votes (67%).

He finished ahead of Dylan Castro of Madera soccer who recorded 10,063 votes (19%). Coming in third was Joey Chavez of Clovis East soccer (6,391, 12%).

Gonzalez had four goals in the Cowboys’ victory over Minarets.

Nineteen athletes were nominated.

The nominees were from basketball and soccer.

The poll closed at noon Saturday.

Recent winners: Orion Tomlinson of Fresno Christian basketball, Camden Thompson of Clovis East basketball and Landon Almeida of Caruthers basketball.
