Marissa Mendrin of Kerman volleyball is the winner of The Bee’s Athlete of the Week poll for Oct. 18-23.
She received 72,279 votes (81%) to get the win.
Nathaniel Avila of Clovis cross country came in second with 11,618 votes (13%) and Khushleen Kaur of University cross country came in third with 1,855 votes (2%). Melia Kamalani of Minarets volleyball also had 2% of the votes (1,835).
Twenty-one athletes were nominated .
Athletes came from cross country, golf, volleyball and water polo.
The poll closed at noon Saturday.
Past winners: Grace Van Der Kooi of Central Valley Christian volleyball, Katelyn Goforth of Kerman volleyball, Andrew Gray of Madera water polo, Krisalynn Turman of Caruthers volleyball, Margaret Arambula of Mission Oak volleyball, Kristen Landen of Clovis West volleyball, Gabby Russell of Clovis West volleyball and Goforth again.
Fall coaches may submit nominations with stats from this week’s action to agalaviz@fresnobee.com.
