Fresno State football will reportedly add staff member who coached future NFL tight ends
Fresno State football coach Matt Entz has been busy putting together his coaching staff and reportedly will bring in a coach that mentored Rob Gronkowski at New England.
Football Scoops’ John Brice reported Saturday that Entz is “on verge of adding a major piece of that puzzle” on offense in Brian Ferentz, who will serve as a top offensive assistant and coach tight ends.
Ferentz is the son of Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz.
This past season, Brian Ferentz was as an offensive analyst at Maryland.
Ferentz was with Iowa from 2012 to 2023.
There, he coached future NFL players in George Kittle, T.J. Hockenson, Noah Fant and Sam LaPorta.
Ferentz was the New England Patriots tight ends coach and worked with Gronkowski in 2011.
Entz so far has hired Josh Smith (offensive coordinator), Nick Bendetto (defensive coordinator), JD Williams (cornerbacks), Aaron Prier (running backs), special teams (John Baxter) and offensive line (Zach Crabtree).
Entz recently added Adam Breske to be the linebackers coach.
Breske previously spent time with Northern Illinois, where he reunited with Bendetto.
