Fresno State headed to Famous Idaho Potato Bowl to face Northern Illinois with Tim Skipper

Fresno State will face Northern Illinois in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

The game will take place at Albertsons Stadium in Boise, Idaho on Dec. 23.

Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m. The game will be shown on ESPN.

The game will mark the last time Tim Skipper will coach the Bulldogs.

Skipper was named the interim coach prior to the season because Jeff Tedford retired due to health.

Skipper was considered for the Fresno State job before Matt Entz was named the head coach.

Fresno State athletic director Garrett Klassy said Skipper will coach the Bulldogs in a bowl game.

Several players, such as quarterback Mikey Keene and wideout Jalen Moss, entered the transfer portal.

The Bulldogs are 6-6 overall and went 4-3 in the Mountain West Conference. Northern Illinois went 7-5 and 4-4 in the MAC.

Fresno State will participate in its fourth bowl game in the past four seasons — the 33rd bowl game in program history.
