Fresno State players entering transfer portal. Latest include Mikey Keene and Jalen Moss
UPDATE: On Wednesday, two more players entered the transfer portal. They are wide receivers Raylen Sharpe and Tim Grear. Later in the day, running back Malik Sherrod announced he’ll be in the transfer portal.
ORIGINAL STORY: Fresno State quarterback Mikey Keene and wide receiver Jalen Moss each announced Tuesday that they are entering the transfer portal.
Moss cited “uncertainty” on the Fresno State coaching search while Keene thanked the coaching staff before putting his name in the portal.
Fresno State is looking to name a football coach after Tim Skipper led the Bulldogs this fall with an interim tag. Jeff Tedford retired prior to the start of the college football season.
The Bee’s Marek Warszawski in an opinion piece lobbied for Fresno State to name Skipper as the head coach or the run risk of imploding.
Moss, a sophomore, was named to the Mountain West Conference second team as a punt returner.
With Keene’s departure, that leaves former Buchanan High star Jayden Mandal and Joshua Wood as the only quarterbacks.
The other Bulldogs entering the transfer portal include linebacker Phoenix Jackson, defensive tackle Gavriel Lightfoot, cornerback Al’Zillion Hamilton, wide receivers Karin McCune and Antoine Sullivan, tight end Kamron Beachem, Justin Houston and defensive lineman Julius Gandy.
The Bulldogs went 6-6 and are bowl eligible.
