When Jake Haener played for the Washington Huskies in 2018, he never got to play in the Apple Cup against Washington State.

He finally got to play against Washington State in the LA Bowl and came away with a 29-6 victory at SoFi Stadium on Saturday with Fresno State.

Sure, it’s a big LA Bowl win, but for Haener, it was more than that.

He held an apple in his hand and looked into a camera and bit into the apple.

“This is my Apple Cup, baby,” Haener said. “I love it.”

In 2018, Haener played in three games for the Huskies against North Dakota, Cal and Oregon State.

In 2019, Haener transferred to Fresno State and sat out his first year because of transfer rules.

Haener was named the Fresno State starter in 2020.
