The Fresno State women continue to have COVID-19 concerns within their basketball program, forcing the postponement of a third game in a row. The Bulldogs, who were not able to play games at San Jose State and against Utah State this week, will not make a trip to a game on Sunday at Wyoming.

There have been eight Mountain West women’s basketball games postponed, through Friday. The conference will make an effort to reschedule, but if dates cannot be found, any postponed games will be canceled and declared no-contests. None of the missed game have been rescheduled to this point.

The conference will have more open dates later in the conference season, but could have a glut of postponed games with a compressed early-season schedule.

Fresno State was to play seven games between Dec. 28 and Jan. 15, with just one day between home games on Jan. 13 against Nevada and Jan. 15 against San Jose State, and two days between a conference-opening loss to UNLV on Dec. 28 and a victory over San Diego State on Dec. 31, with games also scheduled Jan. 3 at San Jose State and against Colorado State on Jan. 6.

The game against Nevada at the Save Mart Center is the next one for the Bulldogs (5-8, 1-1 in the MW) on the schedule.

Under the conference’s adjusted COVID-19 game cancellation policy for men’s and women’s basketball, a minimum of seven student-athletes and one countable coach must be available to play a game.

If a team has a requisite number of players and chooses not to play the game shall be canceled and declared a forfeit, with a loss to the team that opts not to play and a win for the scheduled opponent in the conference standings and determining seeding for the Mountain West Tournament in March.
