Kingsburg’s Kira Wilson picks up big honor by CIF, earning a $5,000 scholarship
Kingsburg High senior Kira Wilson was selected as the 2022 California Interscholastic Federation Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Wilson was one of two athletes recognized. Ryan Osborne of Fall River High was also named.
The CIF has had the award since 1982, honoring student-athletes who excel in the classroom and athletics and are strong contributors to their school and community.
Wilson was recognized at the state Capitol in Sacramento on Wednesday. She will receive a $5,000 scholarship.
“Our CIF scholar-athletes are the embodiment of education-based athletics,” CIF Executive Director Ron Nocetti said. “Kira and Ryan represent more than 800,000 CIF student-athletes and it’s an honor to recognize these deserving individuals for their commitment to their scholastic and athletic achievements, as well as their communities.”
Wilson is a three-sport athlete in water polo, soccer and swimming. She has been involved in student government serving as student body treasurer and junior class president and is a member of the Jazz Band, Math Club, Key Club, Marching Band and Link Crew Leaders.
She also served as an assistant coach with Seawolves Recreational Swim over the years.
Wilson will enroll at Cornell and major in psychology and pre-law.
