Buchanan’s Colby Hatton wins B’nai B’rith top honor. Other recipients named
Buchanan High senior Colby Hatton was named the 2022 Student Athlete of the Year announced during the 71st annual B’nai B’rith Student Athlete Awards dinner on May 16.
Hatton received a $2,500 scholarship. The other 15 nominees each received a $500 scholarship.
B’nai B’rith honors one senior from each participating school who stands out for sports, classroom and community.
Hatton had a 4.00 GPA and participated in water polo and swimming that included a second-place finish at the CIF state championships at Clovis West on May 14.
Hatton’s list of school activities include California Scholarship Federation Life Member. Aeronautic Club, FCA Club, Leadership Club, blood drive volunteer, Class of 2022 Club, Special Ed and Multi-Cultural Event volunteer, elementary school carnival volunteer, canned food drive, Homecoming volunteer, school dance volunteer, Olympic Development water polo, volunteered at Sweet Eats Society, Wreaths Across America, Art of Life and Habitat for Humanity.
He will attend Cal.
Irving Negin Scholarship Award
Aiden Tran of Clovis North received the Irving Negin Scholarship Award, given to the nominee with the highest overall grade-point average (4.64).
Tran participated in golf during his four years with the Broncos.
