This Parlier High grad made his Golden Boy Promotions debut in front of Oscar De La Hoya

Evan Sanchez certainly made his new promoter proud Friday afternoon in Anaheim.

In his first fight for Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, Parlier High grad Sanchez delivered a big right hand to Daniel Evangelista Jr in the second round and won by knockout at the Honda Center. Referee Jerry Cantu stopped the fight at 1:52.

Sanchez, 21, improved to 7-0 with six knockouts.

Sanchez controlled the fight from the opening bell, knocking down Evangelista with a right hook.

Still, Sanchez said he felt pressure “because it was my first Golden Boy fight. My first big card, so I had butterflies, but those butterflies are out now and we are ready for more.”

The bout came on the Valentine’s Day Brawl eight-fight card promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and DAZN, the sports streaming service.

Sanchez recently met with his supporters in Parlier and told the crowd he was relishing the opportunity to fight for Golden Boy Promotions, which signed him to a five-year contract in early January.

Sanchez said 200 supporters traveled from central San Joaquin Valley to Anaheim.

“It meant a lot because it shows people what I got,” he said. “I have more for them.”
