Quick action on street light makes us feel safer

I am writing to share my appreciation for the efforts of Fresno City Public Works and Councilmember Luis Chavez's office to repair a street light at the corner of Butler and Winery avenues.

You may recall that that Nicole Stewart, a member of Butler Mennonite Church, was recently killed at this intersection while returning home after a Bible study at church.

While returning home after the candlelight vigil for Nicole, two other people were almost hit. Several people made calls or sent emails to Fresno City Public Works and Chavez's office to have the light fixed. After being told it might take a month, I found a city public works repair truck at the intersection right away repairing the light.

Now pedestrians can be seen at night and can walk safely across the street. I realize there are many repairs that the city needs, but I wanted to send a special thanks for the efforts of both to make the neighborhood safer for all.
