Smart alec sushi restaurant owner talks like Trump

Restaurant owner Steve Wayte of Roll One for Mi just doesn’t get it.

His recent comments stereotyping Hispanics about their tipping levels and his tone-deaf quip about building a wall around his establishment were ridiculous and only added to the contentious nature of today’s political atmosphere.

By the way, where is the study that proves Latino customers are bad tippers? I always give 20 percent!

Mr. Wayte’s dismissive rejoinder when called to task by Henry R. Perea regarding his Facebook post lambasting Latino restaurant patrons was that he is a smart alec and likes to be provocative.

Thank God Mr. Perea had the gumption to call Mr. Wayte out on his nonsense. Mr. Wayte may deny being a Trump supporter, but he talks just like our president.

I do not know Mr. Wayte, and he may be a genuinely nice guy, but first impressions are generally forged by what you say.
