No rain for Fresno, but foggy weather ahead later this week

While other parts of the state can expect rainfall, Fresno is heading into a dry spell — and the sunshine that’s recently broken up a cloudy streak will be followed by another overcast period.

Carlos Molina, a meteorologist based out of the National Weather Service’s Hanford office, said that while Sacramento is getting hit with a storm and additional rain is projected for parts of Southern California, Fresnans can expect to remain dry.

Molina said the last storm of the weather system is moving to San Diego and Baja California and should continue onto Tucson and El Paso before ending by Thursday. Meanwhile, Fresno should see widespread fog beginning Wednesday or Thursday.

The dry, dense fog is expected to merge into stratus, or low-lying clouds, by Monday, Molina said.

This will bring us into another overcast period throughout the week of Jan. 12th, though Molina said it wouldn’t be nearly as long as the gloomy weather that Fresno saw in late 2025.

For the meantime, Molina says Fresnans should be able to enjoy some sunshine on Tuesday before the foggy weather sets in.
