Here’s how long Central Valley’s gloomy overcast weather is projected to last
While weather apps may forecast sunnier skies for Wednesday, Central Valley residents who are tired of the gloomy weather shouldn’t get their hopes up too high.
Emily Wilson, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service’s Hanford office, said there would be a small disturbance in the low-lying clouds that have been covering the area for weeks.
There may be a small amount of rain in Yosemite and other pockets of the area, but any precipitation would be pretty weak around Fresno, she said.
Most of the Central Valley will probably not be seeing much sunshine on Wednesday, though Wilson said it depends on whether winds will actually be strong enough to break up the cloud barrier.
Rains projected early next week may help penetrate the cloud coverage, though Wilson said any rainfall will be followed by dense fog afterward.
As a result, she said people can expect the current, dreary weather to potentially last through the end of December.
By comparison, foothills communities situated above the low-lying clouds can anticipate sunnier weather, offering some nearby respite from the gloomy weather.
