Central San Joaquin Valley again on alert for dense fog. Here’s when it might clear
Central San Joaquin Valley motorists were expected to face another round of tough driving conditions into late Tuesday morning, as the National Weather Service forecast thick fog to cover the region until about noon.
A Dense Fog Advisory was issued by the Weather Service on Monday, with overnight visibility expected to be as low as 200 feet in some locations.
A high transportation risk notice was issued for the Central Valley.
The level 4 transportation alert — with the Highway 99 corridor, from Delano through Fresno and farther north, among the areas forecast to be in the thick of it — warns of visibility of 800 feet or less, very slow or stopped traffic ahead and a higher risk for chain-reaction collisions.
Other roadways predicted to be at risk: Highway 198, Highway 41, Highway 43, Highway 180, Highway 152 and Interstate 5 south of Kettleman City.
Drivers are warned to:
▪ slow down;
▪ use low beam headlights;
▪ keep plenty of distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you;
▪ and anticipate travel delays due to low visibility.
