Woman arrested for shooting at man in southwest Fresno

Police arrested a woman who was suspected of shooting at a man from a vehicle in southwest Fresno on Monday, Sgt. Walter Boston said.

Celelia Marie Young, 35, was arrested Tuesday around 2:30 p.m. by detectives with the Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium (MAGEC) after the suspected vehicle was spotted in the driveway of a southeast Fresno home she was in.

Young was convinced to surrender peacefully and informed detectives where a gun was located in her home.

Boston said the 18-year-old victim told officers that he recognized the shooter as Young, and said her son had been killed on April 19 in the area of California Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

In their arrest report on Young, police on Tuesday did not identify the boy who was killed in April. But a news report said Marreek Phelps, 15, of Fresno, was fatally shot on April 19 at Lorena Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard, a block south of California Avenue.

Detectives are still looking into why Young allegedly shot at the 18-year-old man.
