Video shows knife-wielding man at home of Fresno City Attorney Andrew Janz
A security video at the home of Fresno City Attorney Andrew Janz shows a man armed with a knife at his front door.
Fresno County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Larry Torrez on May 17, and he was charged with attempted first-degree burglary and trespassing. He pleaded not guilty at an arraignment on Wednesday in Fresno County Superior Court.
The video, obtained by The Bee, shows a man ringing the doorbell, knife in hand. He then appears in the backyard, where he is eventually apprehended.
“I just want to thank law enforcement for responding quickly. Sheriff John Zanoni has been a great resource this last week and he’s been very supportive, Chief Casto as well. So, just want to say thank you to law enforcement,” Janz said in comments from the dais at Thursday’s Fresno City Council meeting.
Fresno County Superior Court Geoffrey Wilson granted Torrez $30,000 bail. As of 3 p.m. Thursday, jail records showed Torrez was still in custody.
