A man was found shot and killed Sunday in the parking lot of a Fresno Starbucks.

According to Fresno Police Lt. Zeb Price, officers responded around 5:50 p.m. to Shaw and Dale avenues, near Highway 99, after receiving a 911 call reporting a possible gunshot victim at the location.

When officers arrived, they discovered a man lying on the ground in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

Police immediately attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Based on the information we’ve been able to gather so far, we are investigating this as a possible homicide,” Price said.

Price said witnesses told officers there may have been a disturbance in the parking lot before the shooting.

However, authorities say details remain unclear, including the number of individuals involved and the events leading up to the shooting.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and are actively working to piece together what happened.

Officers are canvassing the area for surveillance video, Price said.

Police have not released the victim’s identity or age.

The area surrounding the Starbucks was closed for several hours as the investigation continues. The parking lot to Carl’s Jr is also taped off.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fresno Police Department at 559-621-7000.
