A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Porterville in Tulare County, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 6:29 a.m. Thursday, March 12, on State Route 65 at the intersection of Lindmore Avenue, where CHP officers and emergency personnel responded to the scene.

CHP said the driver of a 2020 Ram 1500 pickup, a 60-year-old male from Porterville, was traveling north on State Route 65 and attempted to make a left turn into Lindmore Avenue to go west colliding head-on with a ford pickup.

The driver of the 1998 Ford Ranger pickup was traveling south on State Route 65, approaching the intersection of Lindmore Avenue in the number one lane when the collision occurred.

Due to the impact, the Ford pickup spun out colliding with a metal light pole on the passenger side, CHP said.

The driver of the Ford pickup, a 29-year-old man from Exeter, sustained major injuries and was transported to Sierra View Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Ram pickup sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Sierra View Hospital.

The identity of the man killed, or the driver of the Ram pickup was not released as of Thursday.
