A suspected DUI driver struck a toddler with a vehicle Saturday in Clovis.

Officers responded at 2:23 p.m. to the Trader Joe’s parking lot at Willow and Nees avenues after receiving reports that a truck had run over a toddler.

Police said the child was awake, alert, and taken to the hospital in stable condition. The toddler’s mother was also struck and evaluated by EMS.

The driver, identified as 62-year-old Steve Myer of Prather, was arrested on felony DUI charges and will be booked into Fresno County Jail.

Police said a small portion of the parking lot remained closed while the Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated.
