A 17-year-old motorcyclist was killed Friday in a head-on collision in Fresno County.

The crash occurred around 3 p.m. on Auberry Road, just south of the Fresno Rifle and Pistol Club.

California Highway Patrol spokesperson Mike Salas said the teenager was riding a BMW S1000RR motorcycle southbound on Auberry Road. As he entered a sweeping right-hand curve, the teen crossed over the double yellow lines and crashed head-on into a Ford F-350 dually truck driven by a 39-year-old man.

The force of the collision ejected the motorcyclist onto the road. He was pronounced dead.

Salas said the rider was wearing a full-face helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the Ford truck had minor injuries.

The motorcycle came to rest on the west shoulder of the road, while the truck ended up in the northbound lane, partially on the east shoulder.

Salas said alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected.

The investigation is ongoing.
