The man shot and killed Sunday at an apartment complex was identified by police as 35-year-old Mariano Cabrera.
The incident took place at Pleasant and Fedora avenues at 10:50 a.m. when a nine-round ShotSpotter alerted officers. A bystander waved down officers, who located three victims.
The two other victims were a 30-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman. Both were taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
In an update Monday, Fresno police Lt. Brian Valles said the woman was shot while taking out the garbage and was “minding her own business.”
Valles said the alleged shooter and Cabrera know each other, but he wouldn’t disclose the relationship between the two.
Valles said homicide detectives don’t believe the shooting was gang-related — he said it was “more interpersonal.”
It is the 21st homicide in Fresno in 2025, Valles said.
