Three people were shot and wounded Sunday following an argument at a Fresno apartment complex.
Officers responded to multiple shots fired just before 11 a.m. in the 3600 block of North Pleasant Avenue where they located two men and a woman with wounds, according to Fresno Police Lt. Tim Tietjen.
A man was shot in the upper body and was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. He later died, police said. He was identified as 35-year-old Mariano Cabrera.
The other man and woman are stable. Initially, police said the victims were two women and a man.
Tietjen said the incident began as a dispute between neighbors, which escalated into a physical altercation before shots were fired.
Police are canvassing for surveillance video.
“Hopefully, we’ll find something that will identify the shooter,” Tietjen said. “At this point, we don’t know who the shooter might be and what the reason for the conflict was.”
Detectives will remain at the scene for several hours.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 559-621-7000.
