A juvenile was stabbed Thursday morning in Fresno, police said.

Officers responded to the incident around 8:20 a.m. after a caller said someone had been stabbed and was standing at Lewis Street and Clark Avenue, said Fresno police Lt. Larry Bowlan.

Officers and EMS arrived and found the victim, a juvenile, who had a stab wound to his upper body. He was taken to a hospital and is listed in critical condition, Bowlan said.

Officers learned that the victim had been involved in a fight with at least one other person just north of the area.

Bowlan said the juvenile ran through the alley and made his way to the northwest corner of Clark and Lewis for help.

Bowlan said a person had been detained and that detectives would question them.

“We don’t know what his involvement is,” Bowlan said. “He was somebody located in the area that the officers felt could know something or was involved in.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 559-621-7000.
