A man was struck by gunfire several times near downtown Fresno early Thursday, police said.

The shooting happened at 2:30 a.m. in the 300 block of North Blackstone Avenue. Officers responded to a four-round ShotSpotter, Fresno police Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega said.

Officers arrived and found shell casings and located a man with multiple gunshot wounds to his legs. He was taken to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition, Trueba Vega said.

Detectives are investigating the shooting and don’t have a suspect description.
