Officers responded to a welfare check of a 46-year-old man lying on the ground in the alley near the intersection of North Glenn and East Voorman avenues.

The man, identified Tuesday by police as Elias Santiago-Pedro, was suffering from blunt force trauma to the upper body.

Santiago-Pero was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where he died.

Homicide detectives learned Santiago-Pedro lived nearby and believe he was walking in the alley when he was assaulted.
