Suspect arrested after alleged child sex assault then stabbing a man, Fresno police say
A 33-year-old man is in jail after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 10-year-old and stabbed a man earlier this week, police said in an update Friday.
Officers went to a location after receiving a 911 call about a sexual assault involving a minor.
Police said 33-year-old Uriel Contreras walked into a 10-year-old’s bedroom, closed the door and sexually assaulted the victim. The victim bit Contreras’ hand and screamed, causing Contreras to leave the room.
Contreras went into a room where a man was sleeping and stabbed the 32-year-old multiple times in the face, chest and arm, police said. Another child was sleeping in the room witnessed the attack, police said.
Police said Contreras fled the scene. The stabbing victim was taken to a local hospital and was in intensive care.
An arrest warrant was issued for Contreras’ arrest and authorities arrested Contreras without incident.
Contreras was already on parole for assaulting an officer and a carjacking, police said.
Contreras was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of several charges relating to the investigation including attempted murder, assault with intent to commit a serious sex crime, child endangerment, and a parole violation.
