A man was taken to a hospital Tuesday night after he was struck by a gunshot in Fresno.

Officers arrived at Valeria Street and Grant Avenue just before midnight after a 15-round ShotSpotter alerted the department of gunfire.

When officers arrived, they located a 40-year-old man who had a gunshot wound to the lower body. He was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Fresno Police Lt. Leslie Williams said officers found shell casings at two locations on Valeria.

Detectives are investigating the shooting and what led up to the multiple gunshots and were canvassing for surveillance video.

It’s unknown of the suspect description, Williams said.

A vehicle was also struck by gunfire
