Victim killed in hit-and-run collision on Highway 180 near Fresno identified

A man was killed in a hit-and-run Monday after he was hit by a vehicle while on a Fresno County highway.

The crash took place at 12:04 a.m. at Marks Avenue, just south of Highway 180.

The California Highway Patrol said the unknown vehicle was going southbound on Marks Avenue in the No. 1 lane when it struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian came to rest about 200 feet south of the collision and was pronounced dead.

He was identified by the coroner as Joshua Bowler, 37, of Fresno.

There were no known witnesses to the crash, and limited physical evidence was located at the scene, CHP said.
