A man was shot and killed inside a Walgreens in Madera on Monday night.

Officers responded to the store in the 2000 block of W. Cleveland Avenue regarding a shooting that took place. Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead.

Police said callers described the suspect who was located by officers when they arrived on scene. The 30-year-old suspect surrendered and was taken into custody.

He is being questioned regarding the shooting by detectives. Police said the shooting was an isolated incident and the shooting was not gang related.

Police said customers were inside the store at the time of the shooting and shell casings were found.

The gun was recovered, police said. The suspect was booked at Madera County jail for homicide.
