Update: Two passengers killed in Dodge following pursuit by Clovis police identified
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the two passengers killed in the three-vehicle crash following a Clovis police pursuit on Saturday night.
Andrew Webb of Fresno and Adrian Labra Jr., both 19, were killed in the high-speed pursuit that ended at Temperance and Belmont avenues in Fresno County. The coroner said Labra Jr. was recently living in the Sacramento area.
A dashcam video was shown online Sunday that shows the driver doing donuts before peeling out from the middle of the intersection at Gettysburg and Temperance avenues where officers were already in the area.
A pursuit started after officers attempted to pull the vehicle over as it sped away southbound on Temperance. The driver failed to stop for their lights and sirens, Clovis police said.
The driver approached Temperance and Belmont avenues where it collided with two vehicles.
The California Highway Patrol investigated the collision and said the Dodge Charger collided with the left rear of a Toyota Camry that was stopped at the intersection’s stop sign. The Dodge continued to drive out of control before colliding with a Chevrolet Tahoe that was going northbound on Temperance Avenue.
The Dodge and Tahoe came to rest blocking the intersection. Webb and Labra Jr., who were in the Dodge, were pronounced dead. A 20-year-old passenger had critical injuries and a fourth passenger had minor injuries.
The driver and a woman of the Chevrolet sustained moderate injuries, while three minor passengers, ages 9, 4, and 1, suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Toyota also sustained minor injuries, Salas said.
The driver, Luis Felix of Fresno, suffered major injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
Deputies said he has been electronically booked into jail and faces four felony charges: evading police and three for evading police that resulted in injury or death. His bail is $355,000.
He is also suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, CHP said.
The investigation is ongoing.
