Multiple shots fired as two injured in disturbance outside Fresno nightclub, police say
An exchange of gunfire early Sunday morning sent two people to a Fresno hospital.
The shooting occurred in the parking lot of Switch Lounge & Nightclub, located at 5665 N. Blackstone avenue, around midnight.
According to Fresno Police Lt. Leslie Williams, an officer conducted a traffic stop nearby the club and heard a disturbance in the parking lot outside the club before shots were fired. A witness pointed out one of the suspects who was running eastbound from the location.
Officers chased after the suspect and contacted him in the McDonald’s parking lot across the street, Williams said. He was shot in the leg. A gun was located nearby in the bushes.
A second person showed up at the hospital in a vehicle 30 minutes later and was struck in the upper body.
Both wounds are considered non-life threatening, Williams said.
Williams said there was an exchange of gunfire between the two people. An armed security guard was also involved who also fired shots. The security guard was not injured, Williams said.
It’s unknown how many total rounds were fired and the motive of the shooting is unknown.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 559-621-7000.
