A man was stabbed Friday afternoon while sitting at a bus stop in Fresno.

The incident took place at 3 p.m. at Ashlan and Blackstone avenues when the 45-year-old suspect approached the 48-year-old and allegedly slashed his neck twice and fled the scene, police said.

Officers responded to the scene and provided help to the victim and is expected to be OK, police said.

Fresno Police Lt. Marcus Gray III said the suspect approached him believing the victim was involved in an earlier disturbance before slashing him. Officers got a description of the suspect and detained him and charged him for assault with a deadly weapon.

The cuts on the victim’s neck were classified as minor, Gray said.
