Two people injured in Fresno shooting. They were seated in a parked vehicle, police say

Fresno Police and Fire

Two people were injured in a shooting Saturday in Fresno.

Police said the shooting happened at 9:42 p.m. near Ashlan Avenue and First Street.

Officers responded to look for evidence of a shooting and at 9:51 p.m. a man and a woman in a vehicle flagged down an officer at Blackstone and Clinton avenues to say they had been shot and they were going to a local hospital, Fresno Police Lt. Leslie Williams said.

The officer followed the victims where they were listed in stable condition, Williams said.

Detectives determined the shooting happened at the intersection of Tollhouse and Sussex. The suspect is not identified and remains at large, Williams said.

Williams said it appears the victims were sitting in their parked vehicle when the suspect shot at them.

“We contacted the residents of a house near the shooting scene who are possibly in possession of evidence related to the shooting,” Williams said.

“But we do not believe at this time that any of them is the suspect in this case. Officers remained in this neighborhood for a couple more hours while they wrapped up that portion of the investigation.”
