23-year-old identified by police as victim of fatal stabbing at Fresno park

A 23-year-old man was identified Monday by the Fresno Police Department as the victim in a fatal stabbing at a park.

Jared Rogers was found early Sunday in a parking stall at Martin Ray Reilly Park near Chestnut and Belmont avenues with multiple stab wounds to his upper torso shortly after midnight.

Police said they initially responded for a bloody victim with a broken arm at 750 N. Chestnut Avenue.

Rogers was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Homicide detectives determined that an altercation occurred between Rogers and another man near a gazebo in the park where he was stabbed multiple times.

Police said they describe the suspect as 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-4 with a thin build and wearing a shiny blue shirt, jeans and glasses.

Detectives are still looking for additional witnesses who may have seen something.
