Man shot to death on Fresno road. A disturbance took place in intersection, cops say

Fresno homicide detectives on Thursday were investigating a shooting that left a man dead on a roadway.

The fatal shooting took place just before 4 p.m. in the 4700 block of East Lane Avenue, near Recreation Avenue, Fresno Police Lt. Mike Gebhart said.

At least three shots were fired and officers arrived to find a man in his 40s wounded on the road.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gebhart said a possible disturbance took place in the intersection before the shots were fired.

Officers checked for witnesses in the neighborhood and canvassed the area for surveillance camera for clues as to what led up to the shooting.

The road was expected to be shut for several hours, Gebhart said.
