Bicyclist killed on Fresno County roadway. CHP says a truck was swerving before collision

A bicyclist was killed early Saturday morning in Fresno County.

The California Highway Patrol said the bicyclist was going eastbound American Avenue in the eastbound lane of traffic, just west of Chestnut Avenue just after 5:30 a.m.

CHP spokesman Mike Salas said it’s believed a black Chevrolet truck was swerving in the roadway and struck the bicyclist and left the scene.

Salas said a witness to the crash helped the bicyclist to the right shoulder and remained on scene until a deputy with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and CHP arrived.

Anyone with information is asked to call CHP at 559-262-0400.
