A son was detained Friday night after he allegedly shot his father at an apartment complex near Fresno State.

Officers responded to the shooting at 11:30 p.m. at Backer Avenue, near Shaw Avenue after receiving a call for a family disturbance, Fresno police Lt. Zeb Price said.

Officers found a man with a grazed wound to the back of his head.

He was taken to a Fresno hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Price said a husband and wife got into an argument with their 24-year-old son before it turned physical. The son then got a gun and allegedly fired off a shot at his father.

The son was detained.

Detectives are investigating the incident and it’s unknown what the disturbance is about, Price said.

Price said the couple lives at the apartment complex, but the son frequents the home.
