Woman shot in downtown Fresno allegedly by man she had a relationship with, police say
A woman was taken to a hospital after she was shot Monday night in downtown Fresno.
A call came in just before 7 p.m. about a domestic disturbance between a man and woman near Dickey Playground at Blackstone and Divisadero, Fresno police Lt. Leslie Williams said.
The woman drove away from the park, but the man followed her in a separate vehicle before pulling up next to the victim’s vehicle as they drove westbound on Stanislaus from M Street.
The man allegedly fired several rounds at the woman striking her vehicle and injuring her. The victim’s vehicle collided with an AT&T control box on Stanislaus between M and L streets after the shooting, Williams said.
The woman ran from her vehicle and called for help. She was taken to a local hospital and was in stable condition, Williams said.
Officers found the suspect on Voorman near Blackstone and arrested him, Williams said.
Officers learned the victim and the suspect had a prior relationship.
