A man was stabbed multiple times Saturday night at a birthday party in Fresno.

The incident happened at 9:50 p.m. at Fruit and Lamona avenues, Fresno police Lt. Zeb Price said.

Officers arrived and found a man in his 20s with multiple stab wounds to his upper body.

The man was taken to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Price said there was a birthday party that was taking place when a disturbance occurred that escalated into a fight between a half dozen people that fell into the street where the victim was stabbed multiple times.

Officers canvassed the area and found a “potential suspect” who was detained.

Price said the people involved knew each other who were later identified as family members or close friends.
