Police arrest man who allegedly killed his mom’s boyfriend at a Fresno home, cops say

A suspect was arrested believed to be responsible in a homicide on Friday in southeast Fresno.

Aaron Brown 32, was taken into custody early Sunday morning after homicide detectives learned he was upset because of a disagreement between the victim, 69-year-old Gary Bishop, and his mother over property, located at the 4500 block of East White Avenue, police said.

The crime happened shortly after 8 p.m.

Police said Brown allegedly stabbed Bishop in the upper body before fleeing the scene, police said. Bishop was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where he died.

Police said Bishop lived at the home with his longtime girlfriend and her son, Brown.

Homicide detectives obtained a warrant for Brown’s arrest and took him into custody at 1:24 a.m. Sunday near downtown Fresno.

Brown was booked into the Fresno County jail for one count of murder.

It was the city’s first homicide of 2024.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 559-621-7000.
