Bicyclist in central Fresno struck by hit-and-run driver. Police say he injured head

A bicyclist was taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver, Fresno police reported.

The incident took place shortly before 4 p.m. at Shaw and Palm avenues.

The bicyclist, a man in his 30s, was southbound on Palm when he was hit by a green four-door SUV, said Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega. She added that police did not know the make of the vehicle.

The bicyclist suffered a head injury when he struck the concrete. The injury was initially described as minor, although the victim was transported to o Community Regional Medical Center. It was not known if he was wearing a helmet.
