Large fight breaks out at Woodward Park in Fresno then shots were fired, police say
Shots were fired Sunday night in Woodward Park, the Fresno Police Department said.
Lt. Leslie Williams said at 5:45 p.m., they received reports of a fight and shots fired inside the park.
Williams said when officers arrived, the involved people were already gone. No was struck by gunfire, she said.
Officers found casings in a parking lot near a picnic shelter.
Witnesses told officers that there was a group of people gathered at the picnic shelter when a second group of people arrived and started an argument with the first group.
Both groups went to the nearby parking lot, where they fought, Williams said. Witnesses told officers they heard several gunshots and the involved people fled from the the area.
Detectives were investigating the incident and interviewing witnesses and looking for additional evidence.
