A woman and her two toddlers escaped serious injuries Friday afternoon in the Old Fig Garden neighborhood of Fresno after a driver appeared to strike her baby stroller.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the collision just before 4 p.m. at East Buckingham Way and North Van Ness Boulevard.

Spokesman Mike Salas said the woman was pushing the stroller with her two boys, ages 1 and 2, west on Buckingham. As she started to cross Van Ness, a gray sedan also going west on Buckingham turned north onto Van Ness.

Salas said the vehicle struck the stroller as it started moving from a stop at a slow speed. The vehicle knocked over the stroller.

The children were buckled in and sustained minor scrapes and bumps, Salas said.

The driver, described only to be a man, fled after the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to call CHP at 559-262-0400.
