Two men killed after colliding head-on in a Fresno County motorcycle crash, CHP says

Two men riding motorcycles were killed Thursday night after colliding head-on in Fresno County.

The California Highway Patrol responded about 9 p.m. to the scene at Mt. Whitney and Garfield avenues near Riverdale where two motorcycles crashed into each other, Sgt. Joseph Bianchi said.

Officers arrived and found a 38-year-old and a 43-year-old with fatal injuries from the collision.

A passer-by traveling in the area called 911.

Bianchi said one of the motorcycles was “substandard at best” and “not roadworthy” and partially homemade with no license plate or VIN numbers. The other motorcycle appeared to be a Yamaha.

Neither motorcycle had lights, Bianchi said.

“No physical evidence which one was going which direction. No witnesses,” he said.

Investigators were on scene for 2.5 hours.
